Applications Open for the London Philharmonic Orchestra's Conducting Fellowship
Two early-career conductors will be selected for a range of professional development activities with the LPO
The London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) is now accepting applications for its 2024/25 intake of Conducting Fellows. The orchestra is seeking to recruit two outstanding early-career conductors from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the field of conducting.
The two Fellows will get the opportunity to work closely with Edward Gardner, the LPO's Principal Conductor. Gardner will lead 1:1 mentoring sessions with each Fellow, and both conductors will get the opportunity to act as his assistants. The Fellows will also conduct the LPO in its regional and offsite programs, including the Rising Talent programs.
One of the aims of the Fellowship is to immerse the conductors in the life of the orchestra, and as such they will receive opportunities to take direct feedback from LPO players, as well as meeting with its resident composers.
The Fellowship will run for a period of 6-8 non-consecutive weeks across the season, to allow the conductors plenty of podium time.
The Conducting Fellows for the 2023/24 season have already been selected, and they are Luis Castillo-Briceño and Charlotte Politi.
You can read more about the position and apply on the LPO's website. Applications for this position close on Friday, October 27, 2023.
