Applications Open to Kronberg Academy's 2023 Violin & Viola Masterclasses
Open to violinists and violists aged 28 and under, the masterclasses will be held in Kronberg, Germany from September 24 to October 2
Presented every two years, the Kronberg Academy's Violin & Viola Masterclasses will provide young artists the chance to gain insight from renowned tutors — including Kolja Blacher, Miriam Fried, Vadim Gluzman, Mihaela Martin, Nobuko Imai, and Tabea Zimmermann.
This autumn, the Violin & Viola Masterclasses will take place in conjunction to the Kronberg Festival for the first time. Participants will be inspired by great artists at the festival, including Gidon Kremer, Christian Tetzlaff, Augustin Hadelich, Julia Fischer, and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, among others.
Those applying for selection as active participants will complete an audition at the beginning of the Masterclasses. Applicants can choose freely from the audition repertoire list, here.
Active participants will receive at least two masterclass sessions with their tutor as well as a certificate of participation at the end of the classes. The Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn will provide selected students the opportunity to perform individual movements or works by Bach, Haydn, and Mozart in the closing concert on October 2.
Also at the end of the event, selected masterclass students will be presented with the Manfred Grommek Prize for Young String Players, the Prince of Hesse Prize, the Ana Chumachenco Award, and the Viola Sponsorship Award.
All participants, whether active or passive, are eligible to attend the masterclasses and will gain free entry to the concerts and other events.
