Askonas Holt Signs Sitarist and Composer Jasdeep Singh Degun
Singh Degun will join the artist management agency for global representation
The award-winning Sitar virtuoso Jasdeep Singh Degun has joined the artist roster of Askonas Holt, where he will be represented by Tanja Schnitzer for worldwide general management.
Previously signed to Concerted Artists, Jasdeep made history in 2024 as the first sitar player and British Asian musician to win the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist Award.
As part of his role as Artist-in-Residence at Opera North, he served as Composer, Co-Conductor, and Co-Music Director of the critically acclaimed reimagining of Monteverdi’s Orpheus, which earned five-star reviews from The Observer and The Stage.
The production also won awards for “Outstanding Achievement in Opera” from both the Critics' Circle and the UK Theatre Awards, plus received “Best Stage Production” at the Asian Media Awards and a nomination for “Best Stage Work” at the Ivors Classical Awards.
Jasdeep recently completed a 14-city UK tour, which concluded with a live and broadcast performance at the Darbar Festival at the Barbican, in London.
Upcoming projects include two new commissions from the BBC (including a work for the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra), engagements with the BBC Concert Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and joining Ensemble 360 for a collaborative commission and concert tour.
Additionally, he will be embarking on a four-date tour of Germany with the Schleswig-Holstein State Symphony Orchestra performing his own Arya: Concerto for sitar and orchestra.
“Huge news to share! Delighted to announce that I’m now represented by Askonas Holt, one of the world’s leading artist management agencies … this new partnership marks an exciting step in my career,” Degun posted on Facebook. “I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Simon Glinn at Concerted Artists and to Josie Canham-Williams for their exceptional work and dedication over the past few years. Looking forward to seeing what the next stages bring, and to working closely with my new manager Tanja Schnitzer.”
