How has the pandemic, call for racial reckoning, and mass resignations impacted your work life in the performing arts? The Association of Performing Arts Professionals, with the support of the Wallace Foundation, wanted to find out. This new podcast, "ARTS. WORK. LIFE." welcomes arts workers to tell their own stories.

Season 1 Episode 2 - Money, Money, Money: Hustle or Bust?

"Let’s leave the “starving artist” trope firmly in the past — the stories in Episode 2 are all about money: staying in the green while promoting pay equity, doing the hustle, healthcare scares, and making money by making change," the episode description reads.

"In this episode, artistic director Lynn Neuman (Benton Harbor, MI) recounts how she moved out of the city but didn't leave her company members behind, entrepreneur Thamara Bejarano (Orlando, FL) shows the hustle it takes to get a Spanish-language theater company off the ground, freelance artist Taylor Gordon (New York, NY) braces herself for the perils of life and work, injury and health insurance, and artist representative Craig Knudsen (Berkeley, CA) explains how a later-in-life diagnosis helped him shift to more financially sustainable work."
