Australian Chamber Orchestra Appoints New Member
Violinist Thibaud Pavlovic-Hobba has recently joined the ensemble full-time
The French-Australian violinist Thibaud Pavlovic-Hobba has now joined the Australian Chamber Orchestra as a full-time member.
Growing up in Hobart and the French village of Colombier-Fontaine, Pavlovic-Hobba began taking violin lessons at age five.
He later studied with Peter Tanfield in Tasmania — and with Paul Wright and Bill Hennessy at the Australian National Academy of Music, where he won its chamber music competition in 2011.
Pavlovic-Hobba first joined the ACO in 2012 as an Emerging Artist under the mentorship of Helena Rathbone and Zoë Black. In 2016, he became a part-time member of the ensemble for four years.
He went on to lead the Flinders Quartet and performed at festivals including the Australian World Orchestra Chamber Festival, Adelaide Festival, and the Canberra International Music Festival.
Among his chamber music collaborators include the Brodsky Quartet, Nicolas Altstaedt, Alban Gerhardt, and Anthony Marwood.
He has also appeared with the Tasmanian and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, and Mahler Chamber Orchestra, plus toured nationally with the Sydney Dance Company.
Pavlovic-Hobba plays on a c.1756 Giovanni Battista Gabrielli violin, kindly on loan from Helena Rathbone.
