San Diego's Autism Society and Mainly Mozart Present Exhibition
San Diego's Autism Society has partnered with acclaimed performing arts organization Mainly Mozart to present an evening of music, food, art, and film centered around autism.
Lights! Camera! Autism! Back in the Spotlight! will host an art exhibition with works from over 20 autistic artists. The musical performances will feature Autism’s Got Talent’s 2021 finalist, pianist, and vocalist Bruce Kopstein and Terrence Patridge & Friends Jazz Ensemble.
The event was curated to celebrate National Autism Acceptance Month in April and to benefit the Autism Society San Diego’s local programs. The showcase has been described by the founder of Autism Heals, Marisa Leon, as “the most joyful and wonderful autism event I have ever attended.”
The Autism Society is the nation’s oldest leading grassroots autism organization and was created to improve the lives of those affected by Autism. Along with its 76 local affiliates, the society annually serves over 500,000 individuals impacted by autism in various sectors including education, advocacy, and inclusion.
The event will include a showing of the Netflix documentary The Speed Cubers — where the show’s lead Max Park, who is on the autism spectrum, will also be present. All catering and décor of the space will be created by local businesses who employ autistic individuals.
Additionally, members of Exceptional Minds Studios — a digital arts school for young autistic adults — will also be in attendance to present their recent work with the children’s TV program, Sesame Street.
Held at the recently opened UC San Diego @ Park & Market, the event will be housed in the new four-story mixed-use office building which includes a 225-seat black box theater and gallery.
Tickets start at $75 per person, including $25 tickets available for those on the autism spectrum. To purchase tickets, click here.
