BBC Releases Renders of its Upcoming Music Venue
The BBC's new venue will consist of two radio studios and three music studios — complete with control rooms for recording, mixing, mastering, and broadcasting. It will also house a visualization gallery and an edit suite.
The new spaces will allow for recorded music sessions for its BBC Radio stations, housing programs like Radio 1 Live Lounge performances and BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists.
Concurrently BBC's chamber choir, The BBC Concert Orchestra, and the BBC Proms team will use the purpose-built studios for rehearsing and recording. Studio One, for example, will be able to fit an orchestra and an audience of up to 300 people or a pop band with an audience of up to 800.

The organization's music education and outreach programs will also have a home there, as well as one of the largest sheet music collections in the world.
New computer-generated renders were released to give the public a sneak peek of what the studios will eventually look like. Engineering firm Buro Happold’s team is working alongside architects Allies and Morrison to make these renders become a reality.

Director-general Tim Davie visited the site of the project today and announced that "In the anniversary year of the BBC, I am hugely excited by the potential of the BBC Music Studios to allow us to reach audiences in new ways and to create ambitious music programming that audiences everywhere will enjoy."
“We’ve been working with local schools on music education and careers sessions and my desire is that not only will big stars be broadcasting from our studios but that we’ll have inspired local talent to work with the BBC on their own doorstep.”
