Belgian Label Outhere Music Announces Acquisition of Delos Label
Delos, which has been independent since 1973, will bring its catalog of 680 recordings to the European market
The large, independent Belgian classical music label Outhere Music recently announced that it has acquired the American classical music label Delos. Founded in 1973, the celebrated American label has been independent for half a century.
The acquisition will help to establish Outhere Music's North American presence, since to date they have primarily focused on European artists. In the same vein, the Delos label will benefit from a more established and experienced press and distribution team, and will increase its presence in Europe.
Throughout its 50-year existence, Delos has released more than 680 albums. The label was a champion of digital recordings in its earliest days, and was renowned for the technical excellence of its recordings.
"I’m thrilled to welcome Delos into our family," said Charles Adriaenssen, the Founder and President of Outhere Music. "It is a splendid historic label which was managed with care and love by Carol, and it shares our dedication to culture and quality."
"We’re happy to discover and collaborate with many new artists from all over the world and we will aim to follow established traditions, but also to bring new blood to this superb label."
"Our Delos founder, Amelia Haygood, grew up loving classical music, and helped many people in her profession as a psychologist," said Carol Rosenberger, the Owner and Manager of Delos. "As she got to know a number of American musical artists, she was shocked that so few were being recorded, and decided to start a recording company herself."
"As Delos grew, it attracted top artists, was hailed ‘the great American label’ by Billboard, and was enthusiastically welcomed worldwide. It is gratifying to know that the Delos tradition will be carried into the future by Outhere, a proven industry leader revered for its high standards and wide scope of interests."
