Belgium’s International Music Competition Triomphe de l’Art Announces 2024 Winners

The French-Turkish violinist Bartu Elci-Ozsoy has won the Grand Prix with €1000 

 

Open to musicians aged 16 to 35 from all over the world, this year’s International Music Competition Triomphe de l’Art featured competitors for string instruments and chamber music.

Violinist Bartu Elci-Ozsoy from the 16-20 age group has won the Grand Prix with a cash prize of €1000. 

The 2024 jury comprised Marc Danel, Daniel Rubenstein, Alexis Galpérine, Joachim Eijlander, and Mark Messenger. 

The winners and joint prize winners are: 

Age group 16 – 20 years:

  • 1st prize - Richard Cibula (violin), Slovakia
  • 2nd prize - Pieter Streefkerk (violin), Netherlands
  • 2nd prize - Elen Shahinans (violin), Armenia/Belgium
  • 3rd prize - Yewon Cho (cello), South Korea
  • 3rd prize - Cuiting Liang (cello), China
  • 3rd prize - Matis Grisó (cello), Luxembourg

 

Age group 21 – 35 years:

  • 1st prize - Cyprien Keiser (cello), Luxembourg
  • 2nd prize - Adam Suska (violin), Poland
  • 2nd prize - Hanna Daub (cello), Germany
  • 3rd prize - Duleen van Gunsteren (viola), Netherlands

 

Chamber music category winners:

  • 1st prize - Paddington Trio: Patrick Moriarty (cello), Ireland; Stephanie Tang (piano), USA; Tuulia Hero (violin), Finland
  • 2nd prize - Otilka Quartet: Iris van Nuland (violin), Netherlands; Lucien Renette (violin), Netherlands; Francisca Galante (viola), Portugal; Job Huiskamp (cello), Netherlands
  • 3rd prize - ADAM Quartet: Margot Kolodziej (violin), Netherlands; Julia Kleinsmann (violin), Netherlands; Minna Svedberg (viola), Sweden; Renée Timmer (cello), Netherlands
  • 3rd prize - Utrecht Piano Trio: Tiago Coelho (violin), Portugal; Maria Soeiro (cello), Portugal; Lisa Angelia Tanto (piano), Indonesia
  • 3rd prize - Cong Quartet: Yiu Ting Chik (violin), Hong Kong; Ayaka Ishiwatari (violin), Japan; Caleb Wong (viola), Hong Kong; Yan Ho Cheng (cello), Hong Kong

 

Special prizes included the Rose d'Anvers, which was awarded to violinists Elsa Mesnier and Jiaxin Liang; the Young Hope Award went to violinist Pieter Streefkerk

More awards included strings and gifts from Thomastik and strings from Jargar Strings, which were awarded to multiple competition participants. The full list of winners can be found here
