Beo String Quartet Announces New Member
Andrew Giordano will join violinist Jason Neukom, violist Sean Neukom, and cellist Ryan Ash as part of the Beo String Quartet.
Giordano is a prizewinner at the Fischoff, Coltman, Plowman, and Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld competitions, and previously performed as a member of the Colorado-based Altius Quartet, with whom he performed for nine years before the ensemble disbanded in 2021.
A graduate of Indiana University and Southern Methodist University, he and the Altius Quartet held the position of Fellowship String Quartet-in-Residence at University of Colorado Boulder and were mentored by the Takács Quartet. Also a passionate violin and viola teacher, Giordano regularly performs with his wife, pianist Nathália Kato.
Now in its sixth season, the Beo String Quartet is the guest artist of the Zemlinsky Prize, featuring performances of music by Carl Vine, Missy Mazzoli, and Colin Matthews at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music throughout the 2021-2022 season.
The ensemble is also currently recording their newest album featuring Sean Neukom's original work "19-20," Beethoven's String Quartet in C-sharp minor (Op. 131), and "Enthusiasm Strategies" by Missy Mazzoli. The recently founded a recording label, NeuKraft Records, to more readily produce and distribute Beo-original projects without constraints of style or genre.
Along with its annual residency with the Charlotte New Music Festival and Dakota Chamber Music,Beo is actively involved in the contemporary music scene, with notable collaborations including works from Richard Danielpour, Marc Mellits, Missy Mazzoli, Lawrence Dillon, Joel Hoffman, and Charles Nichols.
