Veteran Boston Symphony Principal Cellist Jules Eskin has passed away from cancer - aged 85
American cellist Jules Eskin has passed away from cancer - aged 85.
A student of Janos Starker, Gregor Piatigorsky and Leonard Rose, he served as Principal Cellist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 53 years.
“Jules Eskin is a legend in the cello world … a role model for me, he has always embodied the best of what a cellist could be – a consummate musician as a solo artist, an ensemble musician, and as principal cellist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra …” Cellist Yo-Yo Ma has said today.
