Johannes Brahms' Double Concerto in A minor Op. 102 for violin, cello and orchestra premiered on this day in 1887 – 128 years ago.
The first performance was given by cellist Robert Hausmann and violinist Joseph Joachim.
The concerto was, in part, a gesture of reconciliation from Brahms and Joachim – following a personal and professional fall out.
