Brooklyn Rider Quartet Signs with Arts Management Group
They will join other ensembles on ArtsMG’s roster including the Catalyst Quartet and the Doric String Quartet.
The string quartet Brooklyn Rider has recently signed with Arts Management Group (ArtsMG) for representation, having previously been represented by David Lieberman Artist’s Representatives.
Comprising Johnny Gandelsman and Colin Jacobsen (violins), Nicholas Cords (viola), and Michael Nicolas (cello), Brooklyn Rider derives both its name and its ethos from the artist group The Blue Rider, an early twentieth-century German art movement featuring painters such as Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky.
In the 2023/24 season, the group carried out its first tour of Australia and was also featured as Artist-in-Residence at the Beethovenfest Bonn. In addition, Brooklyn Rider performed a three-concert cycle at London’s Wigmore Hall.
The quartet is highly committed to the commissioning of new works. A recent project, The Four Elements, explores the theme of global warming by pairing four canonic works for string quartet — each representing fire, water, earth, and air — with new works by Akshaya Avril Tucker, Conrad Tao, Dan Trueman, and Andreia Pinto Correia.
In 2020, the group presented the project Healing Modes, which presented Beethoven's Op. 132 alongside five commissioned works by Reena Esmail, Gabriela Lena Frank, Matana Roberts, and the two Pulitzer Prize winners Caroline Shaw and Du Yun. The works explored the theme of healing from a variety of historical and cultural perspectives.
Other quartets on ArtsMG’s roster include the Catalyst Quartet, the Belcea Quartet, and the Doric String Quartet.
