Bruce Springsteen Calls Trump Administration "Corrupt, Incompetent, and Treasonous”
The comments were made at a live performance in Manchester, UK
An exchange of harsh words has broken out between guitarist and singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen and President Trump, following comments made by Springsteen in a live performance in Manchester, UK.
According to The Independent, Springsteen told the crowd that "my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration."
Trump responded in a diatribe on the Truth Social platform, describing Springsteen as "Highly Overrated."
"Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK," Trump continued.
The comments follow Springsteen's endorsement of Kamala Harris in October 2024, at which point he also criticized Trump's fitness for office. At that time, Springsteen lambasted Trump for "his disdain for the sanctity of our constitution, the sanctity of democracy, the sanctity of the rule of law, and the sanctity of the peaceful transfer of power."
On May 19, Trump called for an investigation into endorsements of Kamala Harris by both Springsteen and Beyoncé. According to Forbes, Trump said he would "call for a major investigation into this matter," accusing Harris without evidence of paying for endorsements "under the guise of paying for entertainment."
Singers Taylor Swift and Bono are among the other musicians who have recently been targets of the President's ire.
