The ensemble candidates have been announced for the 2018 M-Prize Chamber Music Competition – to be held in Ann Arbor, United States from 3rd to 5th of May, 2018.
The 2018 Senior String candidates are:
- VC Artists Verona Quartet
- Aizuri String Quartet
- AYA Trio
- Merz Trio
- Van Kuijk Quartet
- Vera Quartet
- Ivalas Quartet
The 2018 Junior String candidates are:
- Annora Quartet
- DAJJ Quartet
- Erato String Quartet
- Kairos String Quartet
- Quartet Callisto
- Saviana Trio
Open to ensembles of between 2 and 10 members, the 2018 competition will be hosted in String, Wind and Open divisions.
Hosted by the Michigan School of Music, the Grand Prize winning ensemble will receive USD $100,000 – plus management on the Concert Artists Guild roster, a number of important performance opportunities - and a recording with Azica Records label.
This year’s string jury will comprise: pianist Winston Choi, cellist Alexander Hülshoff, and violinist and violist Kathryn Votapek.
Previous 1st prize winners include VC Artists Calidore String Quartet - and the Moscow-based fusion quartet Russian Renaissance.
