Carnegie Hall Presents Well-Being Concerts
The series will feature seven hour-long concerts that combine performance with mindfulness and meditation.
Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute will present a series of Well-Being Concerts during the 2024/25 season. The series, which follows a smaller number of similar concerts last season, will feature seven hour-long concerts that combine performance with mindfulness and meditation.
The concerts are targeted at the many Americans who suffer from anxiety and depression but do not receive the appropriate clinical support for these conditions because of financial barriers.
Previously, Well-Being Concerts have been presented in hospitals and other healthcare environments, senior care residences, justice settings, and schools.
The first Well-Being Concert is on Sunday, November 17 with vocalist Camila Meza in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Room. Other concerts will feature artists cellist Joshua Roman, Palaver Strings with special guests vocalist Vuyo Sotashe and pianist Chris Pattishall, and vocalist Magos Herrera.
Later in the season, audiences can hear Omar Sosa and kora player Seckou Keita, along with percussionist Gustavo Ovalles, lead a Well-Being Concert in Zankel Hall Center Stage. This will be hosted by Krista Tippett, the founder and CEO of the extremely popular podcast On Being.
A further concert will be held in partnership with The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. This will feature trumpeter Sean Jones, joined by a small jazz ensemble.
You can purchase tickets for these concerts on Carnegie Hall’s website (carnegiehall.org).
