Cellist Anastasia Kobekina Signs with Sony Classical
The Russian cellist is set to release her next album, a musical portrait of Venice, on the label in early 2024
Russian cellist Anastasia Kobekina who has already recorded four albums, will release her first disc with Sony Classical — a musical portrait of Venice — in early 2024.
Born in Russia, Kobekina studied with Frans Helmerson and Prof. Jens-Peter Maintz in Germany, and then with Jerome Pernoo in Paris. She is currently based in Frankfurt and is augmenting her study of baroque cello with Kristin von der Goltz.
A prizewinner at the Tchaikovsky Competition (2019) and the Enescu Competition (2016), Kobekina was named a BBC New Generation Artist between 2018 and 2021, and received the Borletti-Buitoni Trust award in 2022.
Over the course of the 2022/23 season, Kobekina has made debuts with the Wiener Kammerorchester, Kammerorchester Basel, Symphoniker Hamburg, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, and the National Orchestra d’Ile de France.
