Cellist David Darling Has Died, Aged 79

The American cellist performed classical, jazz, Brazilian, African, and Indian music

Originally from Indiana, Darling graduated from Indiana State University's Jacob School of Music and performed with the genre–bending Paul Winter Consort in the 1970s.

He was Grammy–nominated four times, and won in 2010 for best New Age Album for his album "Prayer for Compassion." Additionally, he co-founded Music for People, which creates improvisation workshops around the world.

Our condolences with Mr. Darling's family, friends, and colleagues.
