SAD NEWS | Celebrated American Cellist George Neikrug Has Died - Aged 100 [RIP]

American cellist George Neikrug has passed away - aged 100

American cellist George Neikrug has passed away - aged 100.

A student of Emanuel Feuermann and Demetrius Constantine Dounis, throughout his seven decade career, Mr Neikrug served principal cello positions with the Baltimore Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Los Angeles Symphony - and the Paramount and Columbia Recording Orchestras.

In addition, he served teaching positions on faculty at the Frankfurt School of Music, Oberlin College, the University of Texas and Boston University.

In 1996 Mr Neikrug was awarded Indiana University’s Chevalier du Violoncelle accolade - in recognition of his outstanding lifetime achievement.
