Pentatone Records has announced the release of German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser's new album: 'Felix & Fanny Mendelssohn'
Pentatone Records has this month announced the release of German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser's new album: 'Felix & Fanny Mendelssohn'.
Recorded with pianist Alasdair Beatson, the disc features Felix Mendelssohn's 1st and 2nd Cello Sonatas, 'Variations Concertantes', 'Song without Words' and 'Albumblatt in B Minor' - coupled with Fanny Mendelssohn's 'Fantasia in G Minor' and 'Capriccio'.
"The Family affair of the siblings Fanny, Felix and Paul Mendelssohn is perfectly depicted in these musical marvels for Piano and Cello ..." Johannes has told The Violin Channel.
"Having played this repertoire for many years together with a modern grand piano, this recording features Alasdair Beatson playing on an Erard piano from 1837 - a model that also existed in the Mendelssohn household ..." he has said.
"An intimate, yet ravishingly exciting sound world that comes from the musical Salon culture of the 19th century straight into the listeners heart and soul ... This music could not be more fresh and deeply moving!"
