21-year-old Australian cellist Rachel Siu has been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 5th ‘Getting to Carnegie’ Competition
21-year-old Australian cellist Rachel Siu has this week been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 5th ‘Getting to Carnegie’ Competition - at Carnegie Hall, in New York City.
Unique in its format, each of the 4 finalists contributed a movement to the world premiere performance of composer and pianist Julian Gargiulo's Sonata No. 2 for Cello and Piano.
Rachel will receive US $2,000 – plus a solo performance at the Water Island Music Festival, in the Caribbean.
Previous 1st prize winners include: VC Young Artist, violinist Nathan Meltzer
