Cellists Invited to Play and Raise Funds for Rise Against Hunger Charity
Cellists of all levels are invited to submit videos by January 16, 2024, alongside donations
Partnering with Rise Against Hunger to provide meals for the hungry, The Cello Museum has created the Simple Gifts Cello Project which involves a virtual cello orchestra playing its arrangement of the traditional Shaker tune, Simple Gifts.
The Cello Museum’s curator, Dr. Brenda Neece, was inspired to work with Rise Against Hunger, as it is a favorite charity of her first music teacher, Roberta Pittman. Cellist Jennifer Kloetzel has also joined the project as a performer.
Cellists of all levels are encouraged to make donations and to participate in this project by sending a video performance here. Four versions of the Simple Gifts sheet music are available for beginner to advanced players.
No fees are required to take part. The closing date for submissions is January 16, 2024.
Donations can be made on the Rise Against Hunger Cello Project page. With the goal to raise $10,000, the charity has raised nearly $500 to date.
