STOLEN ALERT | Cello Stolen in Cape Town
Babette Roosenschoon’s cello went missing at the University of Cape Town between April 20–21, 2024
Babette Roosenschoon has recently reported her cello missing in Cape Town, South Africa. A member of the Juliet Quartet, Roosenschoon played in the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, before joining Stellenbosch University as a cello lecturer.
Her instrument is a full-sized honey-coloured 1970 Joachim Gräbner cello, with a label attached on the inside of the instrument. Last seen in a padded black carrying case at the University of Cape Town, the cello went missing over the weekend from April 20–21.
“[It’s an] instrument that I have had with me for over 25 years and of great sentimentality!” Roosenschoon posted on Facebook. “Please help share this far and wide! If you have seen a cello similar looking in second-hand stores or Cash Crusaders or [anywhere, send any info my way].”
Those with any information are encouraged to contact Roosenschoon directly here.
