CelloBello Launches New Series and Chamber Music Intensive
The cello-focused media platform has announced a new online series and its first in-person training program
Founded by Paul Katz of the Cleveland Quartet, CelloBello has offered countless free digital resources, educational video content, and virtual programming since 2008.
Recently, the nonprofit has launched a new initiative, Ensemble by CelloBello — a curated online series celebrating the artistry and pedagogy of acclaimed chamber ensembles.
This expansion will feature exclusive performances, interviews, and educational content from the Parker, Verona, Kronos, Cleveland, Takács, Borromeo, Ariel, and Pacifica Quartets, the Horszowski Trio, and more.
Additionally, CelloBello will launch its 2025 In-Person Chamber Music Intensive, taking place from May 23–26 at the New England Conservatory (NEC) in Boston, Massachusetts.
Presented in partnership with Carriage House Violins, Chamber Music America, and the NEC, this four-day event invites string quartets and piano trios of all levels to learn, collaborate, and perform with the mentorship of distinguished faculty.
Coachings and masterclasses will be held with members of the Borromeo, Cleveland, Isidore, Pacica, and Parker Quartets, the Horszowski Trio, pianist Pei-Shan Lee, cellist Emily Taubl, and others.
Other events include sessions on “Decoding Beethoven’s Notation,” “Signaling and Tuning in Ensemble Playing,” and instrument care.
A gala concert will also be held featuring violinist Joshua Brown, pianist Pei-Shan Lee, and the Pacica and Parker Quartets. Additionally, the event will include a film night of iconic performances, plus opportunities to play rare and historic instruments onstage at Jordan Hall.
The program fee of $1,000 per participant includes all coaching, masterclasses, performance opportunities, social events, and full access to all sessions. To register, click here.
“At 83, Paul Katz continues to work full-time as a professor at NEC and remains the driving force behind CelloBello’s mission of democratizing access to high-level music education,” writes CelloBello’s Programs & Partnerships Manager William Suh. “His unwavering dedication is a powerful story in itself — one of passion, mentorship, and service to the global music community.”
