China's Amber Quartet Claims Asia-Pacific Gold

The Chinese-based Amber Quartet has been awarded 1st prize at the Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition, in Melbourne, Austrlia

Formed in 2007, at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the Amber Quartet comprises violinists Fangliang Ning and Yajing Su, violist Wang Qi and cellist Yichen Yang

1st Prize in the Piano Trio division, and the competition's audition prize, was awarded to the Australian-based Lyrebird Trio – comprising violinist Glenn Christensen, cellist Simon Cobcroft and pianist Angela Turner
