New York Concert To Be Held in Celebration of the Late Violinist Shirley Givens

A special celebration concert, in honour of violinist Shirley Givens, will be held in New York City on March 16th

It has been announced this week that a special celebration concert, in honour of the late violin pedagogue and children’s music teaching book author, Ms Shirley Givens, will be held in New York City on March 16th.

Ms Givens, who served long term teaching positions on faculty at The Juilliard School, Mannes School of Music and the Peabody Conservatory, passed away in January last year, aged 86.

The concert, presented by Ms Given's husband, cellist Harry Wimmer, will feature a fun evening of great music, great sayings, great quotes ... and great puns by William Shakespeare and friends.

Musical guests are set to include: Harry Wimmer, fiddler Kevin Wimmer, actor Robert Raines Martin, pianist Eduard Laurel, violinist Alexis Walls and guitarist Tom Mitchell - in a program featuring works by Frescobaldi, Beethoven, Albeniz, Grainger, Bach, Falla, Bloch, Kreisler, Webern, Grieg and Django Reinhardt.

The concert will be held at the Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space, in New York City, on the 16th of March at 7.30pm.
