Concours de Genève Announces Candidates for 2024 Voice Competition

32 vocalists will compete in the online recital round taking place from September 2-8, 2024

Open to all vocalists born after 22 October 1992, the 78th Concours de Genève has selected 32 singers to compete.

The candidates come from South Korea, France, China, Poland, Switzerland, Ukraine, Belgium, the USA, Bolivia, Canada, Spain and The Netherlands. They are:

The standard of applicants this year was exceptionally high and we know that this will be an outstanding year for the Competition," Secretary General, Didier Schnorhk said. "We are all eagerly awaiting the next stages of the Competition and to follow these excellent singers.”

The first public stage of this year’s Voice Competition will be an online recital taking place from September 2-8, 2024. The Semi-Final and Final Rounds of the Competition will be held from October 15-22 in Geneva. All rounds will be streamed on The Violin Channel.

The Semi-Final round comprises three sections: an opera recital, a lieder recital, and a proposal for a personal artistic project. Those who progress to the final will perform with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.

First Prize is valued at 20,000 CHF, while Second Prize is 12,000 CHF and Third Prize is 8,000 CHF. In 2024, the jury comprises Patricia Petibon (Chair), Aviel Cahn, André Comploi, Jean Denes, Sophie de Lint, and Waltraud Meier.

Founded in 1939, the Concours de Genève is one of the world’s leading international music competitions. More than 800 artists have passed through the competition over the course of its history. Each year two disciplines are offered in rotation, choosing from piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, cello, viola, string quartet, voice, percussion, and composition.
