Conductor Alpesh Chauhan Signs with Askonas Holt

Chauhan will receive general management

The conductor Alpesh Chauhan has signed with the Askonas Holt agency, where he will receive general management from Olivia Lyndon-Jones and Philip Keegan.

Chauhan is presently Music Director of Birmingham Opera Company and Principal Guest Conductor of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. In the current season, he has been making debuts with the Stavanger, Detroit, and Vancouver symphonies, Orchestre National de Belgique, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and PhilZuid.

A former associate conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony, Chauhan has maintained a close link with the orchestra. He led the group at the BBC Proms in 2022 and regularly appears with the orchestra as guest conductor — and a current project involves recording a full Tchaikovsky cycle on the Chandos Records label.

He is also a patron of Young Sounds UK, a charity that offers support to young musicians from disadvantaged backgrounds and gives them opportunities to develop their skills.

As Music Director of the Birmingham Opera Company, Chauhan aims to bring opera to the wider community.  He was named Newcomer of the Year at the 2021 International Opera Awards for the company's production of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.

Chauhan has also previously served as Principal Conductor of the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini in Parma. In 2022, he was made an OBE for his services to the arts.
