Conductor Kevin John Edusei to Step Down from Munich Symphony Post

Chief Conductor of the Munich Symphony, Kevin John Edusei, has opted not to renew his contract following the 2021/22 season

 

Conductor Kevin John Edusei has acted as the Chief Conductor since 2014. He is stepping down to cultivate his international career.

He has had several prestigious engagements this year, including replacing Antonio Pappano at short notice to conduct the London Symphony Orchestra, and engagements with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic. Edusei was also the Chief Conductor of the Bern Opera House until 2019.

Edusei studied conducting at the Berlin University of the Arts, and subsequently at the Royal Academy of Music in The Hague, Holland. He was the winner of the International Dimitris Mitropoulos Competition in 2008.

Edusei's final concert with the Munich Symphony will consist of a program of works by Berg and Mahler, to take place on May 25, 2022.
