The American conductor Marin Alsop has joined the London-based artist management agency Askonas Holt for management in Europe, Asia, and Australasia. She will be represented by Jo Fry and Dora Michael in collaboration with Tom Cunningham, the General Manager at Opus 3 Artists.
Alsop made history as the first woman to lead major orchestras in the U.S., South America, Austria, and Great Britain and currently serves as Chief Conductor of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony, and Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony.
Having recently extended her contract as Chief Conductor of the Ravinia Festival, she is also the Music Director Laureate at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Conductor of Honour at the São Paulo Symphony.
Additionally, as the first Music Director of the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, Alsop recently launched a new academy for young conductors and continues to support emerging women conductors in the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship, which she founded in 2002.
Her recent season highlights include her Metropolitan Opera debut conducting John Adams’ El Niño, and a return to the Edinburgh International Festival to conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra and the National Youth Choir of Scotland Girls Choir in the UK premiere of Julia Wolfe’s Fire in my mouth.
Alsop is the only conductor to receive a MacArthur Genius Grant and has won awards from the World Economic Forum, Royal Philharmonic Society, Association of British Orchestras, and Harvard and Cambridge Universities. She has also been elected into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.
