Cyberattacks Plague The Metropolitan Opera

New York's historic opera house fell victim to cyber attacks, impairing its website, ticketing systems, and paycheck systems

The website of The Metropolitan Opera has been down since December 6, temporarily impacting the network systems, which include the website, box office, and call center. The source of the attacks remains unknown.

All performances will take place as scheduled and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, stepped in to help. General-admission tickets to the December 11 and 14 performances of Verdi’s Rigoletto, as well as the December 13 performance of Verdi’s Aida, can now be purchased on Lincoln Center's website and at the Welcome Center box office at David Geffen Hall for just $50.

Seating will be in the Orchestra section of the opera house, and locations will be assigned by Met ushers on a first-come, first-served basis immediately prior to curtain. Tickets will be issued as e-tickets from Lincoln Center or can be picked up at the Met box office starting one hour before the performance.

"We appreciate your patience through this difficult period as we work to resume normal operations," The Met wrote on social media. "Once normal operations have resumed, we will honor all refunds and exchanges that we have been unable to process during this period. We are working as quickly as possible to get this difficult situation resolved."
