Italian Daniele Gatti Announced as New Concertgebouw Chief Conductor

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra has today announced Italian conductor Daniele Gatti as their new Chief Conductor, from 2016.

He will replace Maestro Mariss Jansons, who announced in April of this year he will depart the role in March 2015 – at the conclusion of his 10th season.

Maestro Daniele Gatti, 53 has served Principal Positions with the Orchestra Dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de France and the Zurich Opera

“The musicians and the management of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra look forward to a long and inspiring collaboration with the renowned conductor Daniele Gatti,” the orchestra's Managing Director Jan Raes has said, “...it is with great conviction that the orchestra has chosen a partnership with a conductor embodying such passion, dedication and experience.”
