Dutch Music Store Reports Thefts Totaling €150,000

The Adams Music Centre has been broken into five times in the past nine months

The Dutch-Belgian music shop Adams Music Centre has suffered its fifth break-in in nine months, with thieves stealing 50 factory-made trumpets from its store in Lummen at 2 AM (Local time) on Friday, May 30, 2025.

Masked intruders broke into the store with a sledgehammer. The shop had installed extra security measures since the last break-in two months earlier, but the thieves were undeterred. 40 trumpets were stolen in the previous break-in, which suggests that the instruments are being stolen to order.

The store's owners are particularly perplexed by the models of trumpet that have been stolen: while these are not the cheapest the store offers, they are also not particularly high-end models.

The director of the company says the police only really stand a chance of catching the perpetrators if the instruments are sold in one large group. If, for example, they are sold individually on a platform such as eBay, it will be much more difficult to track them down.

"These were not the cheap models, but they are not that exclusive," shop manager Frank Swinkels told the Dutch outlet L1 Nieuws. "Why would you steal those trumpets? With other instruments I can imagine. But these are not Stradivarius violins or anything like that. These trumpets are just made in a factory."

"We have forwarded the trumpets' serial numbers to all kinds of music stores. If these trumpets are offered here now, we and the police will receive a signal."
