Inaugural Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition Announced

Violinist Elmar Oliveira, in collaboration with the Lynn University Conservatory of Music has today announced the launch of the inaugural Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition - to be held in Boca Raton, United States from January 22nd to February 5th, 2017.
Open to candidates of any nationality, aged between 16 and 32, the 1st prize winner will receive US $30,000, significant career development, publicity and management support plus a number of important performance opportunities.
"I truly believe in giving back,” Mr Oliveira has told The Violin Channel, “ … I have had a wonderful career, helped by many people in the industry. Now, it is my time to do the same.”

The 2017 jury will comprise: Andrés Cárdenes, Gudny Gudmundsdottir, Daniel Heifetz, Ilya Kaler, Vera Tsu Wei-ling, and Elmar Weingarten.
Elmar Oliveira is a former 1st Prize winner at the Tchaikovsky and Naumburg International Violin Competitions - and currently holds a distinguished Artist-in-Residence position at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music.
