The Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra has today announced the contract extension of Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi - through to the end of the 2022/2023 season.
"I am extremely pleased that my relationship with the DR Symphony Orchestra, a relationship that has flourished and developed wonderfully in recent years, will continue on through the next seasons ..." the 59-year-old Italian conductor has said.
"The orchestra, with its amazing curiosity and sharp focus, are a source of great personal and artistic joy in my life," he has said.
"The collaboration with Fabio Luisi has lifted the DR Symphony Orchestra all the way up to the top international league," Orchestra Executive Bohr Head has said.
Maestro Luisi has led the Copenhagen-based ensemble since 2014 - and also currently serves as General Music Director of the Zurich Opera.
He has previously served as Principal Conductor of the Metropolitan Opera, Chief Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra - and as General Music Director of the Staatskapelle Dresden.
