Finalists Announced at the 6th International Karol Lipiński Violin Competition
Hanna Pozorska, Wonbeen Chung, and Sarah Jégou-Sageman will each perform a concerto with the Toruń Symphony Orchestra
Founded in 2007, the International Karol Lipiński Violin Competition is held in Toruń, Poland, and is now presenting its sixth edition. The competition attracts capable young violinists from across the globe — with more than 80 players applying for the most recent edition.
Open to players born between 1989 and 2005, the competition offers €15,000 to its First Prize winner, €10,000 for Second Prize, and €6,000 for Third Prize.
The three finalists have now been selected, and will proceed to the final round, to be held on October 4. Each player will present a concerto alongside the Toruń Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dainius Pavilionis.
The finalists and their chosen concerti are as follows:
- Hanna Pozorska (Poland): Sibelius — Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47
- Wonbeen Chung (South Korea): Sibelius — Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47
- Sarah Jégou-Sageman (France): Brahms — Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77
In 2024, the competition jury comprises Daniel Stabrawa (chair), Dainius Pavilionis, Jakub Jakowicz, Rūta Lipinaitytė, and Philip A. Draganov.
