France’s Les Victoires de la Musique Classique Names 2023 Winners
Award recipients were announced across seven different categories in classical music, from best soloist to best recording
This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Victoires de la Musique Classique, which was recently held at the Dijon Opera and featured performances from the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra conducted by Debora Waldman.
Uniting individuals and organizations specializing in composition, publishing, writing, performing, and production, the Les Victoires de la Musique association’s board of directors selects the name and content of the prizes each year.
The 2023 winners in each category are:
Instrumental soloist: Bertrand Chamayou, piano
Lyric Artist: Marina Viotti, mezzo-soprano
"Revelation" Instrumental Soloist: Aurélien Pascal, cello
"Revelation" Lyric Artist: Alexandra Marcellier, soprano
"Revelation" Head of Orchestra: Victor Jacob and Lucie Leguay
Composer: Fabien Waksman for the L’ile du temps concerto for accordion and symphony orchestra, released on Warner Classics on the album “J’ai deux amours”
Recording: Pygmalion’s recording of J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, released on Harmonia Mundi
The 2022/23 artistic committee of the event comprised Patricia Alia, Alain Beghin, Julien Benhamou, Hervé Defranoux, Chrysoline Dupont, Didier Martin, Sonia Nigoghossian, and Marc Voinchet.
Alongside backstage interviews given by Clément Rochefort, the event was hosted by Stéphane Bern and broadcast live on the France 3 television network and France Musique radio. The public were also invited to vote for their favorite artists.

Formed in 1985, the association of Les Victoires de la Musique was created to organize and produce three television programs in the form of live shows where “Victory” prizes would be awarded. The programs are dedicated to different genres of music: variety, jazz, and classical.
