France’s Opera de Lyon Appoints New Concertmaster
Lise Martel, currently third concertmaster of the Opéra National de Paris, will now be joining Opera de Lyon
Lise Martel has announced that she will soon be joining the Opera de Lyon as one of its new co-leaders. The current concertmasters of the opera orchestra are Nicolas Gourbeix and Kazimierz Olechowski.
Formerly co-soloist of the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, Martel has been working at the Opéra National de Paris as third concertmaster since 2015.
She first studied violin with Jérôme Akoka and in 2004, received a prize for advanced studies at the École Nationale de Musique de Gennevilliers.
In 2007, she was accepted to the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the class of Boris Garlitsky and Igor Volochine. In 2010, she joined the Paris Opera Orchestra as a tutti player.
Martel often performs with the Hernani Quartet, of which she is a founding member, plus has performed at venues including the Salle Pleyel, the Palais Garnier, and the Olivier Messiaen Amphitheater.
As a soloist, she has appeared with ensembles such as the Symphonie de Poche, the Rouen Opera, and the Orchestre National de France.
