Franz Schubert and Modern Music Chamber Music Competition 2025 Jury Announced
The competition is being held for piano trio, piano duo, and duo for voice and piano
The 12th edition of the Franz Schubert and Modern Music chamber music competition is set to take place from February 8 to February 15, 2025. Hosted at the Kunstuniversität Graz, the competition has received applications from 325 musicians, who represent 44 different nations.
The competition is presently in the pre-selection rounds, with jury members evaluating the recordings sent in by each ensemble.
In the meantime, the competition has announced the jury for the live rounds of the competition. In 2025, they are split into three different categories, as follows:
Duo for voice and piano (Lied): Joseph Breinl (chair), Lina Maria Åkerlund, Iain Burnside, Samuel Hasselhorn, Manuela Kerer, Toby Spence, Pauliina Tukiainen, and Sarah Wegener.
Piano trio: Chia Chou (chair), Vincent Coq, Ellen Margrete Flesjø, Thomas Hoppe, Anssi Karttunen, Minna Pensola, Isabelle van Keulen, and Katharina Wincor.
Piano duo: Sivan Silver-Garburg and Gil Garburg (chairs), Carlo Fabiano, Rico Gulda, Götz Schumacher, Adrienne Soós, Arie Vardi, Lena-Lisa Wüstendörf, and Shani Diluka.
They will be supported by an extended jury, consisting of people from across the culture sector who will assist the primary jurors in reaching their decisions. These extended jury members are Annett Baumeister, Birgit Hinterholzer, Michael Nemeth, and Ulf Werner.
The total prize pool is worth more than €74,000. There is also a Special Prize which allows an ensemble to release and promote a disc of their performances.
