French composer, pianist and conductor Roger Boutry has passed away – aged 87

French composer, pianist and conductor Roger Boutry has passed away – aged 87.

A graduate of the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied with Jean Doyen and Nadia Boulanger, Mr Boutry was a former Finalist at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition alongside Van Cliburn - and throughout his lifetime had hundred of compositions published, performed and recorded worldwide.

He served as Principal Conductor of the Orchestres de la Garde Républicaine for over 20 years - and held a long term harmony teaching position on faculty at the Paris Conservatoire.
