Golden Globe Awards Announces Winning Artists
Composer Ludwig Göransson won for his work on Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer”
The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony was hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in Los Angeles.
The Golden Globes recognizes achievements in 27 categories for motion pictures and television.
For “Best Original Score,” the Swedish composer and conductor Ludwig Göransson won for his music to Christopher Nolan’s 2023 epic Oppenheimer, which also won the Golden Globe for best film director.
Other nominees in the category for best score included:
- Jerskin Fendrix, Poor Things
- Robbie Robertson, Killers of the Flower Moon
- Mica Levi, The Zone of Interest
- Daniel Pemberton, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
- Joe Hisaishi, The Boy and the Heron
Oppenheimer marked Göransson’s second collaboration with Nolan on a film — the first was Tenet in 2020. His recent film scores also include the Black Panther films — the first of which won him the Academy Award for “Best Original Score” in 2019.
“I think Ludwig’s work on the film (Oppenheimer) really achieves an enormous amount of the effect of drawing the audience into the emotional dilemmas of the characters,” Nolan said. “I think he's really put together a very remarkable score.”
