Hilary Hahn Warns Against Social Media Impersonators
Hahn has alerted her followers that an impersonator has been sending out private messages to people
Violinist Hilary Hahn is the most recent high-profile musician to be affected by online impersonators.
Others who have fallen victim to fake online accounts include violinists Itzhak Perlman, David Garrett, and Midori Goto.
Hahn has notified her over 227,000 Facebook followers, 482,000 Instagram fans, and 150,600 X followers of the situation regarding her impersonator.
“I have been informed that fake Facebook accounts are again sending messages to my followers from ‘me,’ sometimes inappropriate in nature,” Hahn wrote on Facebook. “Know that neither I nor my management would ever reach out to ask for your personal details, for money in exchange for exclusive merchandise or fan packages, or for meetings, lessons, or backstage access.
“This account is the only one I use; I have no ‘private’ account, so l would ask that friends and followers disregard accounts without the official blue check mark!" she added.
“To report impersonators, go to their profile and click the three dots on the right side of the screen and then click report profile → Scam Fraud, Impersonation → Impersonation → Celebrity or Public Figure → Type in Hilary Hahn → click next → click submit.”
