Houston Symphony Names New Interim CEO
Elizabeth S. Condic will step into the role in October 2024
The Houston Symphony has announced that its current Chief Financial Officer, Elizabeth S. Condic, will become the orchestra's Interim Executive Director and CEO in October 2024. She will steer the organization following the departure of John Mangum, who has been appointed General Director of the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
The search for Mangum's permanent successor is underway and will be led by the Catherine French Group, a national executive search firm that specializes in the arts.
A native of Houston, Elizabeth S. Condic has worked in CFO positions for more than twenty years and has been at the Houston Symphony since 2017. During her tenure there, she has overseen the rebuilding of the orchestra's finances following Hurricane Harvey, as well as the pandemic.
Before coming to the Houston Symphony, Condic worked in executive finance roles at the University of St Thomas and the University of Mary. Her achievements in these roles include providing financial advisory plans relating to the construction of new buildings and the remodeling of existing spaces.
Condic holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a Master’s degree in Accounting, both from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. She also completed the Institute for Educational Management (IEM) program at Harvard University.
