Hungarian composer and violinist Karl Goldmark died on this day in 1915 - aged 84.
Largely self-taught as a composer, his signature works include the opera Die Königin von Saba, his Rustic Wedding Symphony - and his Violin Concerto No.1 in A Minor.
Interestingly, he served as Jean Sibelius’ violin teacher for a brief time.
