One violinist and four violists will join the ensemble for the 2023/24 season
The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra welcomes second violinist Seula Lee, and violists Caleb Cox, Ursula Steele, Lynn Sue-A-Quan, and Emily Owsinski to the ensemble.
Born in South Korea and raised in Dallas, violinist Seula Lee took her first violin lessons at the age of 10. Before coming to Indianapolis, she was Guest Concertmaster of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra, and has also appeared with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, as well as the Austin, Dallas, Detroit, and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestras.
Violist Caleb Cox was raised in South Carolina. She has also taken part in a quartet residency at the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Germany. In the summers of 2018 and 2019, she was a participant of the Ravinia Steans Music Institute Program for Piano and Strings, and she was also the winner of the 2019 Viola Concerto Competition at Jacobs.
Canadian violist Lynn Sue-A-Quan studied with Hsin-Yun Huang, Heidi Castleman, and Cynthia Phelps at the Juilliard School. She has appeared as a soloist with the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra, Niagara Symphony, Guelph Symphony Orchestra, and the Oakville Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she has appeared at summer festivals including the Lucerne Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, and the Verbier Festival.
Emily Owsinski first appeared with the Indianapolis Symphony in 2018 and returns to the orchestra after a year with the St Louis Symphony. Hailing originally from Pennsylvania, she studied at Indiana University with Linda Fiore, Rebecca Henry, Stephen Wyrczynski, and Edward Gazouleas.
