Indiana’s Fischoff National Chamber Music Association Names Executive Director
Saxophonist and administrator Scott Campbell will assume the role, effective immediately
Founded in 1973, the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition is one of the largest competitions of its type in the U.S. and has had almost 8,000 musicians participate, many of whom have gone on to professional careers in music performance and education.
As announced by the association’s Board of Directors and artistic director, Scott Campbell is now the organization's new executive director. Campbell succeeds Kara Kane in the role, who will be staying on at Fischoff serving as Education Director.
“Kara has been amazing in serving Fischoff over the last three years successfully stabilizing and growing the organization during COVID and bringing us back to in-person programming stronger than ever before,” commented Board president, Randy Kelly. “We are fortunate to have both Scott taking on the leadership role of Fischoff and Kara staying on to direct our educational programming as we continue to grow Fischoff’s reach in the community, state, nation and worldwide.”
Campbell previously served as Director of Woodwind Product Management at Conn-Selmer, an American instrument manufacturer. Accomplished in product research and development, project management, marketing, strategic planning and entrepreneurship, Campbell was pivotal in increasing the woodwinds category at the company.
Campbell is also a skilled saxophone player and a Conn-Selmer Artist working in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. With over 10 years of performance experience, he has served as an adjunct professor of music at Texas’s Southwestern Adventist University and Mountain View College. Additionally, he ran a private saxophone studio with over 80 students, also in Texas.
A graduate of Brigham Young University, Southeastern Louisiana University, and the University of North Texas, Campbell holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in woodwind and saxophone performance.
“Building on the amazing vision, work, and leadership that has come before, it is an honor to join this distinguished organization,” Campbell said. “I am looking forward to working with this wonderful team and leading Fischoff through a new era of growth, continuing to impact and improve lives through chamber music.
“Scott brings experience, energy, passion, and is a wonderful champion for musicians and educational programming,” added Fischoff’s artistic director, Thomas Rosenberg. “I am thrilled to have Scott join the Fischoff team and that Kara is staying on as Education Director.”
