Intermediate Semi-Finalists Announced at China’s Zhuhai International Mozart Competition
The 11 Intermediate candidates progressing to the Semi-Final of the 2017 Zhuhai International Mozart Competition have been announced
The 11 Group B (13 to 16 Years Old) candidates progressing to the Semi-Final round of the 2017 2nd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians have today been announced – in Zhuhai, China.
The 2017 Group B Intermediate Semi-Finalists are:
- María Dueñas Fernández (14, Spain)
- Xunyue Zhang (13, China)
- Antoni Ingielewicz (16, Poland)
- Sophia Su (16, USA/Macau)
- Miyu Kitsuwa (16, Japan)
- Erik Zhen Mayr (16, Austria)
- Hongfei Lyu (16, China)
- Marley Erickson (14, United States)
- Xinyi Zhang (16, Belgium)
- Changling Fan (15, China)
- Chaowen Luo (16, China)
For the Semi-Final stage, each Intermediate candidate will present a complete Mozart Sonata for Violin and Piano, a virtuosic bravura showpiece - plus this year’s newly-commissioned set work ‘Toi, Toi, Toi’ by Gerhard Wimberger.
This year’s competition is held in 3 age categories: Group A Juniors (12 Years and Under), Group B Intermediates (13 to 16 Years Old) and Group C Seniors (17 to 23 Years Old).
Presented by the University of Mozarteum Salzburg, the Intermediate Group B 1st prize winner will receive US $15,000.
The 2017 jury comprises: Paul Roczek (Artistic Director), Friedemann Eichhorn (Jury Chair), Shmuel Ashkenasi, Harald Eggebrecht, Ani Schnarch, Akiko Tatsumi, Weidong Tong and Lina Yu.
