The category winners have this week been announced at the 2020 International Classical Music Awards - in Seville, Spain.
Presented annually since 2011 and judged by a selection of music critics from the print and digital media, the ICMA Awards recognize artists and record labels who have made a significant impact in the classical music community during the proceeding 12 months.
The year’s 'Lifetime Achievement Award' was presented to: pianist Elisabeth Leonkaja.
This year's 'Artist of the Year' accolade was presented to: soprano Marina Rebeka.
This year's 'Young Artist of the Year' prize was awarded to: cellist Erica Piccotti.
This year's 'Discovery Award' was presented to: cellist Philipp Schupelius.
This year's 'Label of the Year' accolade was awarded to: Pentatone.
This year's 'Composer's Award' was presented to: Ivan Boumans
This year's 'Special Achievement Awards' were presented to: conductor John Axelrod and the Jerome Lejeune record label.
This year’s ICMA jury comprised music critics from: Andante, Crescendo, Das Orchester, Deutsche Well, Gramofon, IMZ, Musical Life, MDR Kultur, Musica, Musik and Theater, OPERA, Orpheus Radio, Pizzicato, Polish Radio Chopin, Radio 100.7, Resmusica, Rondo Classic, Scherzo and Unison.
