International Society of Bassists to Hold 2023 Convention in June
The convention will take place at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor between June 5 and 10
At the International Society of Bassists (ISB) Convention, more than 1,000 bassists, exhibitors, collaborative musicians, family members, and guests from around the world are expected to converge on the University of Michigan for the event.
From June 5 - 10, the convention will be made up of concerts, seminars, workshops, lecture demonstrations, panel discussions, masterclasses, and exhibits, with some of the world's most prominent bass players present. You can read the full list of presenters, here.
In addition, the IBS runs a Young Bassists program in tandem with the convention. The young players will participate in masterclasses, technique classes, large and small ensembles, and recitals. They will also have the opportunity to attend some of the other sessions taking place at the convention.
The convention will begin with a "Bass for Non-Bassist Teachers Day," which is targeted at teachers who do not have specific bass expertise but would like to learn the basics of the instrument so that they can best support their students to begin bass study.
