Itzhak Perlman to Partner with Primary Wave Music

The independent publisher will look after Perlman's recording interests, as well as create new marketing and digital opportunities

Violinist Itzhak Perlman has announced that he will undertake a new partnership with Primary Wave Music. The partnership will see the company look after the recording interests for all of his discs — including his artist royalties, as well as name and likeness rights.

In addition, Perlman will work closely with Primary Wave’s marketing and publishing team to create new marketing, branding, digital, and synch opportunities, alongside film and television projects.

The recordings covered by the deal have been taken from across Perlman's five-decade recording career. They include "Spring", "Winter", and "Summer" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, as well as Luiz Bonfá's Black Orpheus: Manha De Carnaval and Perlman's recording of the 24 Paganini caprices.

Perlman has performed with each of the world's major orchestras and concert halls. In 2015, he was granted a Presidential Medal of Freedom – the Nation’s highest civilian honor – by President Obama, as well as a National Medal of Arts by President Clinton (2000) and a Medal of Liberty by President Reagan (1986).

Perlman is the recipient of 16 GRAMMY Awards, four Emmy Awards, a Kennedy Center Honor, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and a Genesis Prize.

"I am excited to work with Primary Wave to see what plans they develop to take care of my recordings and to see what new opportunities they bring to the table," Perlman said. "We have been in discussions about this relationship for some time, and I am looking forward to working with them."

"Itzhak Perlman is hands-down the greatest violinist of our time," said Lexi Todd, Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Primary Wave. "It is a true honor to have had the pleasure to work with Mr. Perlman and his team on this partnership, and we are all looking forward to working together on new opportunities to spread his undeniable musicianship and his incredible story."
